UK: Aston to celebrate 100th birthday at Silverstone Classic.
When it comes to celebrating in style, no one does better than the people at Aston Martin. They will celebrate the British marque’s 100th anniversary at the Silverstone Classic this year. The British marque, famous for its association with the James Bond movie franchise, was born when Lionel Martin piloted a Bamford & Martin Singer Special to the top step of the podium at the Aston Clinton Hillclimb in Buckinghamshire in 1913. The event itself gave the British marque its name. After many financially unstable years, the company was bought by David Brown. He got full controm of the company in 1972 while the DBS was on sale.
As part of the celebrations, the factory itself is touring Europe with three of its most important models. However, their celebrations are considered small when put beside the one at the Silverstone Classic, in which more than 250 owners have already registered to display their cars with the Aston Martin Owners' Club at the event. Not only that, the company itself is marshalling 100 significant cars from its past for a special parade too.
