UK: Webber to have Australian Successor

The chaps over at Infiniti Red Bull Racing may have gotten enough of the F1 silly season, and has officially announced via various social media platforms that current Scuderia Toro Rosso driver, 24 year old Daniel Riccardo will replace fellow Australian Mark Webber at the Milton Keynes based outfit. Riccardo will partner 3 time world champion Sebastian Vettel for 2014. Webber will leave F1 at the end of this year to join Porsche’s LMP1 racing efforts at Le Mans. Webber announced his retirement earlier this year. This sent shockwaves across the world of F1. Although Red Bull’s intention was to promote one of their junior drivers to a Red Bull seat, anyone from Ferrari ace Fernando Alonso to Lotus’ Kimi Raikkonen has been linked with the second Red Bull seat. Red Bull even had negotiations with Kimi’s managers, but talks broke down. The Australian is no stranger to Red Bull Racing. He currently drives for Red Bull’s sister team, and tested and participated in the Young Driver’s Test for the team. He is also Red Bull’s reserve driver, a role he was given in 2010.
