(Update) Formula D FINALLY Arrives in Singapore
Singapore will host its pioneer professional drift competition at the new Changi Exhibition Centre on 27 April next year.

Formula DRIFT Singapore is presented by Binter & Co as an exclusive alliance with Formula DRIFT Holdings LLC to expand as well as build the sport of drifting outside of North America. Formula DRIFT holdings LLC is the first and only sanctioned and recognized North American professional championship drifting series.
Formula DRIFT Singapore is scheduled to be held here for a period of three years. Drifting is a high-skilled, high-powered motor sport that gets audiences' adrenaline pumping from start to finish. Drift drivers, or drifters as they are popularly known, intentionally maneuver their cars into well executed, controlled sideways slides at high speeds through a marked course.
Championship drifting is for rear-wheel drive cars only and competitors are judged based on execution and style as opposed to fastest course completion time. The U.S. based Formula DRIFT circuits feature aggressive side-by-side action as drivers execute the course two-at-a-time; often within inches of each other.
Formula DRIFT Singapore will see 37 local and Malaysian drifters compete for the Championship trophy in April. 26 year old Ivan Lim (right) and 31 year old Colin Teo (2nd from the right) are the first two Singaporean drivers to be announced. Ivan has been drifting since 2005 and has even trained under Japanese drifting legend, Ken Nomura.
Colin made his debut in 2006 in Round 3 of the D1 Professional Grand Prix Series in Malaysia. Besides local talent, spectators will also get to witness the dazzling skills of three professional drifters from the Formula DRIFT USA including Casper Canul.
Mr Marcus Lim, General Manager of Binter & Co said, “Formula DRIFT Singapore will provide an opportunity for our very own local drifters to compete among and learn from the very best. We are excited to be able to host Formula DRIFT’s first foray into Asia and are looking forward to unveil this milestone event in Singapore’s motorsports calendar with the possibility of expanding the sport into other countries in the region in the future."
Formula DRIFT Singapore Championship is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and will be part of the Uniquely Singapore calender. Pre-sale tickets for Formula DRIFT Singapore are available via SISTIC from 3 January 2008 onwards priced at SGD10.00 each.
Visitors can also purchase tickets on-site on the day of the event at SGD15.00 each. More information is available on the official website at www.formuladrift.com.sg
