Mazda 6 2.0 R SDN Review: Version 2.0

We were the first to review the 2.5-litre variant, and now it's time to evaluate the "entry-level" 2.0-litre. The thing is, it's such an impressive sedan - and now we're just unsure why there's still not much of 'em on the roads...

What we like:
pros
Great handling despite its size. Willing engine and eager transmission.
What we dislike:
cons
Not as refined as the competition. Lack of cruise control and HID.

Badge elitists will try to put this car down, calling it a “more affordable” 5 Series…however, it is not. This is a well-built car that is tremendously fun to drive, and deserves serious consideration based on its own merits.

Save for the missing cruise control and HID headlights on the lowest end model, the Mazda 6 2.0 is a very competent package - the minor niggles mentioned do not diminish how good it feels to drive this car.

It is one of the best handling cars in the mid-sized sedan category, but for that asking price, don’t expect this car to be the most refined of the mid-sized lot - as its core strengths lie in its handling, responsiveness and overall zoom-zoom factor.
