Saab 9-3 Aero XWD 2.0 Review: Away from the crowd

What we like:
pros
Handsome exterior
pros
opulent interior
pros
XWD gives it superb handling
pros
something to worry the usual German suspects.
What we dislike:
cons
Steering wheel a tad large
cons
weight at the helm can be improved upon
cons
some parts taken off cheaper Chevrolets.

What does it mean then? The 9-3 has the firepower to scare both the 177bhp 323i and 204bhp C230, and at the same time, give the 265bhp A4 a good run for its money.

While some might put badge as priority, for once you might want to dispense that thought. After all, you're saving a significant amount of money, but get better or matching performance. Right, so some might say it still doesn't display Teutonic build quality and interior design - come on, it's something you can live with.

So, while opinion remains divided about the goodness of the $159k 9-3, what you readers should be glad to hear is that Saab's junior executive is made up of genuine substance beneath it. Still want to be badge-conscious? You're just being silly...
