Through traffic

Like I said, this car didn’t strike me as special immediately, but rather, after driving it around for the whole day in the heavy Friday rain, it soon because increasingly obvious as to why and what is special about this vehicle.

For a ridiculously big vehicle that can hardly fit itself into a public parking lot (see our pictures) it is also ridiculously EASY to park. Believe it or not, we were parking it in the narrowest, most camped of HDB car parks all day long WITHOUT any sort of parking aid! Often, we had trouble getting out of the car because of its sheer size that ate the parking lot's space up whole (see pictures!).

The second delight, was the overly capable handling abilities of the ‘Becca. The suspension was so compliant and obedient. I was able to slice and dice through traffic like I would do in my humble and small Hyundai Getz.

It was a complete breeze to drive this SUV that way, and it completely sheds its bulk, and weight with ease because the all round view is both excellent and commanding. Plus, there is almost no body roll, exploiting its limits on a wet road made me quite nervous.

So why should you buy one?

This car is not just for the father of 5 who simply loves a good drive. I dare say that even the younger crowd might be attracted to this surprisingly well performing SUV. Its off road capabilities are surprisingly unrequited, especially if you want to go through muddy terrain with ease without breaking a sweat.

It has plenty of room for the kids, in laws, as well as every possible bulky item that you can imagine.

The only gripe I might have with this car, is the fact that its handling and chassis is just so good, that the engine doesn’t do it justice. It feels like it can do so much more, and go a whole lot faster.

However, not everyone drives like a maniac (me) all the time, and I am confident that most people who test the Tribeca will find Subaru’s first SUV a whole lot more satisfying than they could ever imagine.
