The IS compact executive was never designed by Lexus to go head-to-head with the BMW, but even with that said, the first-generation IS was an extremely polished executive saloon with a hint of sportiness. For its successor, Lexus continues with this well-considered approach, treading a fine path between the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (which the newest generation has been tuned up quite a few notches in terms of driving dynamics).

The IS250, priced between $139,000 to $150,000 depending on the variant you’re looking at with COE, is clearly the sensible buy for one who wants a competent compact executive and prefers refinement over outright sportiness.
