Borneo Motors Singapore, the official distributor for Toyota in Singapore, organised its Connected In Mobility event at Marina Bay Sands, which aimed to demonstrate to Singaporeans what the future of eco mobility could look like here.

The main highlights of the event were the range of electric and hybrid Toyota cars on display, including two of its newest models, the bZ4X Touring and the Urban Cruiser. Both are full battery electric vehicles (EVs), further underlining Toyota’s commitment to embracing the EV movement in Singapore, given that they now form more than half of all new car sales here.

The bX4X Touring is a larger version of the bZ4X electric SUV that is now available for sale in Singapore, and it features an extended and taller roofline that results in more cargo room at the back. The bX4X Touring also boasts of a more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces a total of 375bhp in power output.

The Urban Cruiser meanwhile is a compact-sized crossover that’s based on its close cousin, the Suzuki eVitara. Despite its small size, Toyota claims that the Urban Cruiser will offer plenty of space inside, with an impressive 562 litres worth of cargo capacity. Borneo Motors have not announced drivetrain details for the Urban Cruiser for Singapore, but it is expected to slot right into COE Category A when it is officially launched later this year.

Other Toyota models that were featured at the event included a preview of the latest generation RAV4 SUV, as well as Toyota’s newest electric and hybrid cars, such as the aforementioned bZ4X, as well as the new Vios and Noah hybrids.

Aside from being able to get up close and personal with the new models, visitors to the Connected In Mobility could also visit various zones to explore the diverse mobility ecosystem that extends beyond cars, and how they are designed to meet the evolving needs of Singaporeans.

These included the HEV & BEV Education Zone, which featured a hybrid cut-car exhibit developed in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, alongside an augmented reality experience for Battery Electric Vehicles to help visitors better understand electrified drivetrain technology in an engaging and accessible way.

There was also the Children’s Play Zone, which was created in partnership with SP Group, and allowed younger visitors to explore different energy solutions through an interactive driving track. Other partners at the event included Shell and Brompton bicycles, which launched an initiative to collect and refurbish pre-loved bicycles to donate to various charity beneficiaries.

“Connected In Mobility reflects Toyota’s belief that the future of mobility is not defined by a single solution, but by providing people with the power of choice. Through the introduction of the All-New Urban Cruiser and All-New bZ4X Touring, alongside our established Hybrid Electric Vehicle line-up, we hope to support different lifestyles and mobility needs as Singapore progresses towards a more sustainable future,” said Ng Khee Siong, Managing Director, Borneo Motors Singapore.
