Going green

"Green" is the colour of Envy only when you're one of those sad gits who looks at the world through half-empty glasses. Thankfully, in the case of this striking S2000, it is half-full all the way to the red-line of its screaming VTEC engine...

Popping off the gas pedal also creates delightful, burbling exhaust over-runs as you slow down for the traffic lights...

I guess this sort of "conspicuous consumption" continues to garner negative reactions from that perennial group of sour-pusses who only see the world through half-empty glasses, but the less said about them, the better, since there's no sense in giving this breed their day in the sun.

From the road-side, the swelling overture of the combined orchestra (comprising intake, header and exhaust) is addictive and exhilarating, especially once the engine crosses into the VTEC zone (at under 5,000rpm) and the symphony reaches its rousing, full-bodied crescendo. Popping off the gas pedal also creates delightful, burbling exhaust over-runs as you slow down for the traffic lights, or whenever you ease off the throttle after a hard run.

Some may like it, others invariably won't, but hey, that's life and if you can't please everyone, the best person to please is yourself! The important thing is, the owner is having a ball of a time with the colour and it's radically different from the other S2000s on the road, which makes it all the more admirable.

Especially in a society where many are content to merely hop onto the merry bandwagon...
