MPT Time Attack 2007

MPT Time Attack 2007

Lots of photos and time attack results inside! Organised by MPT, this has got to be one of the biggest and baddest time attacks in the region, especially with D1 drifter/Super GT300 driver Nobuteru Taniguchi making a guest appearance.

Yes, all 80 drivers of their cars, and took the time off on a Monday morning just to head to Sepang for one of the region's biggest time attacks.

The event saw big names like SMSA, Garage R, YHI, Miki Marketting (they have things like Recaros, Sparcos and genuine Momo accessories) and ST Powered take part, even print media like Hypertune and Carma getting their scoops on the event.

Garage R, being the main importer and distributor of HKS products, had D1 drifter and Japan Super GT (GT300 class) driver Nobuteru Taniguchi, come all the way down from Japan to give the CT230 a whirl around the circuit.

The car, a fully modified Mitsubishi Evolution 9, puts out over 700hp and is specifically made for time attacks, and it has seen Taniguchi come very close to 2 minutes 10 seconds, if not for an engine problem that put his run off for the rest of the day, sans practice in the early morning.

Participants were well taken care off, with themselves and members of the media being treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch in the comfort of Sepang Circuit's guest suites.

In addition to the time attack, there was also a best dress up race car competition for cars that have all show AND all go.

All in all, despite the rain in the evening, it was a good one. For full results, click here
