The Volkswagen Jetta has always been a firm favourite in the Singapore market, and so it comes as no surprise that it is the next Wolfsburg offering we'd like to see on our roads. This latest model adopts the clean lines of Volkswagen's design language clearly evident in the new Polo and Touran models.

This new car has grown, it is 90mm longer and now measures 4,644mm. This translates into increased legroom as well, thanks to a 70mm extension to the wheelbase which is now 2,648mm. Compared to the older car, it has 67mm more legroom. Inside, it features a new centre console, entertainment and climate control systems, and a revised steering wheel design.

The new Jetta's that made their debut in Europe faeture the four-link suspension system that is similar to the Golf's, It features a different set-up from the outgoing model thanks to its wider rear track, and revised springs and dampers.

There's a range of engine options that include 1.4-litre TSI engines that develop 122bhp and 160bhp, as well as two diesel options - a 1.6-litre TDI with 105bhp and a 2-litre TDI with 140bhp. The 1.6-litre TDI unit comes with BlueMotion Technology modifications that include Stop/Start and battery regeneration. And of course it comes with VW's myriad of safety features; seating for five; as well as a large 510-litre boot.

The list goes on - there's the Peugeot RCZ, the Land Rover Evoque, the Mini Countryman, and the Alfa Giulietta, just to name a few. But for starters, it looks like we're in for a bumper crop of rides for the coming year. Now if we can only do something about those darn COE prices...
