While the Golf and Lavida blue-e-motion are a few years away from being sold in the showroom, you will be able to experience the VW's first foray into hybrid electric power with the all-new Touareg Hybrid that is only months away from its local launch.

While most hybrid cars to date are positioned as environmentally-friendly machines, the Touareg Hybrid is also capable of entertaining keener drivers who are looking for an alternative to the likes of the BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne.

Powered by a 333bhp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 that works in tandem with a powerful electric motor, the Touareg Hybrid makes a combined power output of 380bhp and a healthy 520Nm of torque. Not bad for a car that's also capable of returning 8.2-litres per 100km.
