A Mercedes...powered by BMW?
BMW is rumored to be in talks to sell their engines and transmissions to other automakers.

If this is true, then carmakers are being hit really badly by the ongoing economic slowdown.
Klaus Draeger, BMW's head of development, was quoted by the magazine Auto Motor und Sport saying that they were in advanced talks with Mercedes-Benz about licensing engines to their Stuttgart-based competitor.
Insiders speculate that BMW's new V12 would be powering Mercedes' S-class and Maybach limousines. Other manufacturers have also reportedly approached BMW, with the intention to purchase their diesel engines.
