Audi R8 is the official DTM Safety Car
The R8 shows why it's darn good - being the Safety Car in the DTM clearly says so
Fresh from its appearance as the safety car at the Le Mans 24 hours, the Audi R8 will be take on the same role in the DTM race series and the model will make it a double debut with a second R8 serving as a Race Taxi as well.
Already a superb mid-engined sportscar, the required modifications were only minimal. Werner Frowein, managing director of quattro GmbH said, "There were not many modifications required, though, because the R8 possesses the genes of a perfect sports car.”
Both the Safety Car and Race Taxi will be used for the first time at the Norisring Speed Weekend.
