From January to June 2008, Audi Singapore sold 646 cars, registering a 41% increase over the same period in 2007. A record 166 cars were sold in June 2008 alone, which is an increase of 62% over June 2007.

“The car that you drive speaks of who you are and it is often seen as an extension of your lifestyle,” said Mr Reinhold Carl, Managing Director of Audi Singapore. “Clearly, Audi’s positioning as a sporty, progressive and sophisticated brand are beginning to resonate with a growing group of drivers in Singapore,” he added.

Since 2007, Audi has been the fastest growing premium car brand in Singapore.

The new Audi A4 led the charge in Singapore, accounting for 70 units of Audi’s model mix in June alone. Response was also overwhelming for the recent launch of the S5 and A5 into Singapore, with the former making up 51% of total bookings.

Worldwide, Audi AG sold more than 515,000 cars between January and June, and remains highly optimistic that the company will achieve record sales of more than one million cars for the first time in its history. The Asia-Pacific region also contributed to Audi’s first half success, with more than 78,900 cars sold - marking a 19.9% increase over the same period last year.

In Singapore, new product arrivals in the second half of 2008 will continue to lead the charge for Audi’s volume strategy. “While top-of-the-line models such as the TTS and RS6 - which are slated to be introduced in October 2008 - are niche cars, their market introduction will have a positive halo effect, injecting fresh demand down through the product line”, remarked Carl.

The new Audi A4 Avant will also be introduced by fourth quarter 2008. Despite the onset of a rather gloomy economic forecast, Audi Singapore is confident that it will take sales past the 1,250-unit mark this year.
