Market Watch: What Used EVs Can We Buy In Singapore Today?
There’s now a greater diversity of used EVs - does this mean better deals for shoppers?

If you’re not fully convinced by EVs yet but still curious to explore, the used car realm could be a good place to begin.
Hefty deposits associated with new car purchases are now a non-issue, which means you’re carrying less risk for the financial outlay. At the same time, new-ish EVs are still blessed with a fresh battery pack, and with most manufacturers covering battery warranties stretching the entire length of a COE cycle, technically you’re well covered going down this route.

Carousell’s used car classifieds is an ideal platform to start your research. Set the filters (in this case, tick only the Electric option), and voila, you’ll find the usual suspects alongside variants that flew under the radar.
What used EVs can you buy at different price points?

Annual depreciation: S$13,000 - S$16,000
The lowest end of the price spectrum reveals family favourites. You’ll be able to get a 4 year old 71.7 kWh-equipped BYD e6 at S$13,300 depreciation a year - that’s not a tough ask given the space it provides and what rivals are listing. 15-grand annually bags you the MG ZS, less mainstream Citroen e-C4 and rather surprisingly, the Performance variant of Tesla’s Model 3. We’d take a plunge for the Tesla, but remember to budget for that road tax! 505 bhp and 0 - 100km/h in 3.3 seconds, we still can’t wrap our head around figures like these!

Annual depreciation: S$16,000 - S$20,000
Options start to widen in this bracket. A Standard Range Tesla Model 3 might pique your interest, or this as-good-as-new rear-wheel drive MG S5 could be what you’re after. Opt for the Jaecoo J6 or MINI Electric if you want an EV with an X factor. If whisper-quiet sedans appeal to you, the BYD Seal will be a great option.

Annual depreciation: S$20,000 onwards!
Legacy carmakers begin to make their presence felt here. Low 20-grand depreciation annually nets you the Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 and EQC 400. A 2021 Audi e-tron Sportback 55 and 2024 BMW iX3 fall within this bracket too.
Do not discount the visually arresting Hyundai Ioniq 5! The steepest end of the mountain sits a couple of extremely low miles Porsche Taycan Sport Turismos, listing for a cool half a million bucks (or 50 grand annual depreciation).
