Chevron launches new Caltex Diesel with Techron® D
Diesel contains exclusive additive with proven cleaning power, to protect and restore engine performance.

Chevron Singapore Pte. Ltd., which markets Caltex™, has announced the introduction of Caltex Diesel with Techron® D, a new improved diesel, which contains the exclusive Techron D additive.
Caltex Diesel with Techron D is proven to control deposits, help maintain fuel injector cleanliness and support optimum engine performance. The launch of Caltex Diesel with Techron D is part of Chevron’s fuels marketing strategy to offer differentiated, quality fuel products to motorists.
It is also in response to expected growth in diesel demand in Asia Pacific. According to a May 2009 Energy Advisory by FACTS Global Energy, diesel demand will grow the most out of all transport fuels and will continue to make up nearly one third of all fuels volume in the region over the next six years.
The new Caltex Diesel with Techron D will be available at all Caltex service stations nationwide on 29 July 2009 and will replace Caltex’s current offering, Power Diesel.
Caltex Diesel with Techron D will retail at the same price as the current Power Diesel, even though it is an improved formulation with additional product benefits.
"Businesses are operating in a challenging economic environment now and many diesel drivers are hardworking motorists who rely on their vehicles for a living. We believe that the new Caltex Diesel with Techron D with its proven cleaning power will result in cleaner engines and cleaner engines perform better," said Jeremy Oh, General Manager, Retail and Commercial & Industrial for Singapore/Malaysia/Cambodia, Chevron Global Marketing.
In a diesel engine, keeping the fuel injectors clean is critical as diesel fuel injectors are prone to deposits. Deposits can upset the injector spray pattern and hinder the fuel-air mixing process and this can result in decreased fuel economy and increased emissions.
In the very latest engines, each hole in a fuel injector may be as small as the width of two human hairs. The potential for negative impact from injector deposits increases as diesel engines become more sophisticated.
In engine and laboratory tests, diesel with Techron D was proven to:
- Produce cleaner fuel injectors with 68% more flow
- Maintain cleaner fuel injectors and deliver 6% more power
- Protect metal surfaces against corrosion
- Produce 95% less foam resulting in a cleaner and faster fill
During the course of its development, Chevron tested the performance of the Techron D additive in both old and new diesel engines, as well as in a range of diesel specifications including biodiesel blends, and it has proven to work well with all.
This ensures that the new Caltex Diesel with Techron D is suitable for all diesel vehicles and meets Singapore’s diesel quality standards as well as Chevron’s strict quality standards for all Caltex fuels.
"Our research has shown that Caltex Diesel with Techron D is proven to maintain cleaner fuel injectors to help maintain optimal fuel economy and power and can protect against corrosion, helping engines to perform reliably."
"Diesel with Techron D also produces significantly less foam resulting in a cleaner and faster fill. These are qualities that we are sure motorists will value. The introduction of Caltex Diesel with Techron D reaffirms our commitment to delivering clean, safe and reliable quality products," said Oh.
