City Energy Launches App-Free EV Charging In Singapore
No apps, QR codes or extra steps required.

Go by City Energy has launched Singapore’s first app-free EV charging experience with its new "AutoCharge" system, offering greater convenience for drivers in Singapore and Malaysia. After a one-time setup on the City Energy Go app, users can plug in to charge - no QR codes or logins needed.

This service is available at over 200 charging points, made possible through a partnership with JomCharge, part of Malaysia’s EV Connection network.

Where are these chargers located in Singapore?
It will initially launch at five locations - Pullman Singapore Hill Street, Klimt Cairnhill, Komo Shoppes, North Gaia and North Park Residences, with plans for an islandwide rollout. It’s part of City Energy’s commitment to Singapore’s green future, with over S$100 million invested to expand EV charging infrastructure in private residential and commercial sites by 2030.
How does it work?
The system identifies EVs at the charger using a unique Charge Controller ID (EVCC ID) and a VIN assigned during setup. This enables seamless charging without manual authentication. AutoCharge currently supports EVs from AION, BYD, Chery, MG and Tesla, with ongoing efforts to include more brands.

Can I register for it now?
Yes - to enable AutoCharge, users need to request a VIN from Go by City Energy and register it through the Go by City Energy app. During setup, the system detects the EV’s EVCC ID when first plugged in, prompting the user to unplug and reconnect the charger to complete pairing. Once registered, the vehicle can charge at any AutoCharge-enabled point in Singapore and Malaysia without further steps.
