CN: Jaguar-Land Rover to recall 36,500 Evoques

Land Rover will recall over 36,500 Evoques after it was revealed on a Chinese television programme that the British automaker had used faulty gearboxes. They have since apologised for said issues via their own microblog. 36,451 Evoques from the 2014 and 2015 model years will be recalled as a result of software-related grelims, which have ranged from poor gear shift quality, to a total inability to select drive in certain conditions. The software reflash will be done free of charge, and the gearbox itself will receive an additional warranty period on top of whatever warranty the car already has. So far, only Chinese-market Evoques have been affected. The Indian-owner automaker isn’t the only one to be shamed by the Chinese; rivals Volkswagen and Nissan have also been critised on state television for either the usage of faulty components, or for overcharging consumers for repair work.
