Speculation is that both companies will decide on a model by next year. But what kind of a car will it turn out to be?

Rumours abound that it could be anything from a hatchback, compact SUV, or mid-engined roadster. Or possibly, a front-engined 928 successor.

With the merger of Porsche and VW on the cards, it might take a while before both companies decide what kind of model should be developed.
