Eyes only: McLaren P11
McLaren's new supercar is rumoured to be about 18 months away.
"P11" is the code name given to McLaren's new volume supercar. The Woking-based outfit plans to put this car up against the likes of Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari F430. Insiders claim that production figures may be as high as 5,000 cars per year.
The supercar is expected to be mid-engined. Power of course, will be courtesy of a Mercedes Benz engine, possibly the 6.2 litre V8. Expect output to be in excess of 500hp.
Lightweight composite materials will be used extensively. As such, McLaren are expecting this car to hit 100km/h in less than 4 seconds and have a top speed that exceeds 200mph.
