F1: Renault to take over Lotus

It is official – Team Enstone will have new owners come 2016. The team currently named Lotus F1, and using Mercedes engines, will become a works Renault team again, after the French Company withdrew their works effort a couple of years ago. The company made it clear though, that this F1 effort will be a long term commitment, as they are aware that they are lagging behind the Mercedes and Ferrari duo in terms of engine development. They want to win, and victory may come in more ways than one – remember, the Renault-Nissan Group has ties with Daimler, so the company could perhaps run rebranded Mercedes engines in the future. Still, everything remains as rumours and speculations for now, for no official confirmation has been given by either company yet. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
