F1 Sprint Will Debut At Next Year’s Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix
Singapore will be one of six circuits to host the F1 Sprint in 2026.

Singapore will host its first-ever F1 Sprint at the 2026 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix from 9 to 11 October. Fans at the Marina Bay Street Circuit next year can expect added excitement with short, high-intensity races on Friday and Saturday ahead of Sunday’s main race.

What is F1 Sprint? It’s a short, 100km race, around one-third the distance of a Grand Prix, lasting about 30 minutes. The format emphasises flat-out racing instead of strategy, with no mandatory pit stops. While teams may stop, the race is generally too brief for tyre changes to matter. Sprint races, introduced in 2021, have produced dramatic battles, including Lewis Hamilton’s first win with Ferrari earlier this season.

Under the Sprint weekend format, Friday’s FP2 becomes Sprint Qualifying, Saturday features the Sprint race instead of FP3 plus the usual Grand Prix Qualifying, and Sunday hosts the main race. With fewer practice sessions and more points available, teams must optimise quickly, while fans get three days of meaningful, high-intensity action.
