Incorporating around 650 newly developed parts, the 2008 SLK is now more "F1 inspired" through the modification of the front air dam, a pronounced F1 nose and grille spine. At the rear, a new lower skirt and pipe design make for a more aggressive rear, complimented by a pair of darkened rear lamps. The new cabin houses a new multi-functional three-spoke sports steering wheel and a new instrument cluster.

Power plant wise, the four-cylinder supercharged engine of the existing SLK200 will be carried forward with power boosted by 15 kW/21 hp (to 135 kW/184 hp) and torque increased from 240 to 250 Nm. If that is still not enough power for you, the SLK is also available with a six-cylinder 3.5-litre V6 engine that develops 224 kW/305 hp at 6500 rpm.

The new SLK will go on sale in the UK next April.
