Fiat 500 is European car of the year
The prestigious European Car of the Year award for 2008 goes to the heart warming Fiat 500.

The European Car of the Year is the initiative of a collection of several major European publications from several European countries.
The Fiat 500 made the short-list of seven finalists from a pool of 33 nominees. The final round of judging saw the cute little Italian hatch beat out some stiff competition from giants like Ford (Mondeo), Kia (cee'd), Mazda (2), Mercedes (C-Class), Nissan (Qashqai) and Peugeot (308) to emerge as winner. Not only did the 500 win, it won the competition by a wide margin; 385 points to the runner-up Mazda2's 325.
Fiat itself has won the contest no less than nine times, while its subsidiaries Alfa Romeo and Lancia add another two and one, respectively.
