Toa Payoh is the first(and perhaps not the last) heartland area to have an ERP gantry right at its doorstep. Together with the other four gantries (Upper Bukit Timah Road, Upper Boon Keng Road, Geylang Bahru and Kallang Bahru), these new gantries will be in operation from 8am to 9am, with a flat charge of S$1.

This will be followed by an additional five new gantries that will run along the region of the Singapore River - from Clemenceau Avenue to Fullerton Road - at Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, South Bridge Road and Fullerton Road during the middle of the year.

In November, the remaining six new gantries will come up - at Commonwealth Avenue, Jalan Bukit Merah, Alexandra Road, AYE (westbound) and PIE (westbound) near Eunos and Serangoon Road.
