Amidst all of these rumours is the speculation that Hyundai may also make a bid to purchase a stake in Chrysler.

In the meantime, Chrysler will be restarting talks with other potential partners. Renault-Nissan have been interested in buying a 20 percent stake in the U.S. automaker. They believe that allying with a U.S. brand could allow them to better take on Toyota.

Time is running out for GM, with numerous reports predicting that they could run out of money before Christmas. GM recently posted a $39 billion third quarter loss last Friday.

Little wonder that U.S. Congress has asked the Treasury about including the Big Three automakers in its $700 billion bailout.
