With capabilities and features comparable to $60,000 premium sedans, Genesis will be offered at a starting price under $30,000 when it goes on sale.

Genesis is built on Hyundai’s all-new, performance-driven rear-wheel-drive architecture. It offers three powertrains, including 3.3-litre and 3.8-litre V6 engines, and Hyundai’s all-new 4.6-litre Tau V8.

Developing an estimated 368 hp from its 4.6-litre displacement, the new V8 unit will propel the vehicle from 0-100 km/h in less than 6 seconds. Hyundai claims that their V8 produces more horsepower and torque than the powerplants found in Lexus GS450, BMW 750i, Audi A8 and Infiniti M45

The two V6 engines; all-aluminum 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter DOHC V6 engines; delivers an estimated 268 horsepower and 233 lb-ft. of torque and an estimated 290 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque, respectively. To maximize the power spread, the engines utilize Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) on intake and exhaust cam shafts and a new Variable Intake System (VIS) that helps cylinders breathe efficiently at low and high RPM.

Two transmissions are linked to these V6 and V8 units. Both V6 engines are mated to a 6-speed SHIFTRONIC automatic transmission. A high-output six-speed ZF transmission deals with the higher power Tau V8 unit.

In the interior, standard features include a woodgrain-accentuated soft-touch instrument panel, bluetooth hands-free system and USB/iPod inputs. Further, Genesis is the only car manufacturer after Rolls-Royce to feature a state-of-the-art LOGIC 7 audio system that comes with HD Radio, 7.1 surround sound, 17 speakers and 500 watts of sound as an option.

Other features includes eight airbags, an adaptive cruise control system that adjusts vehicle speed according to distance from the car ahead, and electronic active front head restraints are just some of the technologies found in the Genesis that you do not expect to find in cars from Hyundai.

The Genesis truly mark a new beginning for Hyundai.
