The trend for automakers these days is to build greener versions of models in their current lineup, and Hyundai is not far behind. Revealed for the first time at the Paris Motor Show is Hyundai's Santa Fe Blue Hybrid.

The SUV is the standard Santa Fe model, with the addition of an electric motor which works in conjunction with the Santa Fe's 2.4 litre engine. The electric motor is capable of 41hp and 150lb-ft of torque. The two engines will channel their power via a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Santa Fe Blue Hybrid will also utilise other standard fuel-saving measures, such as low rolling resistance tires, low-friction crankcase oil, engine stop/start and electrically powered steering.
Battery power will be supplied by a lithium-polymer battery pack.

Hyundai plans to use this model's drivetrain as the basis for its future hybrid vehicles.
