Italdesign And UST Team Up To Build The Next Generation Of Cars
Italdesign will keep its name and identity, but gains UST’s AI and digital engineering muscle as cars become more software-driven.

UST has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in Italdesign from the Audi Group.

That puts one of Italy’s best-known automotive design houses under the ownership of a US tech company.
The deal brings together Italdesign’s nearly 60 years of car design and engineering with UST’s expertise in AI, digital engineering and software-defined vehicles.
The timing is no coincidence - cars are becoming more connected and software-heavy, making the link between design, engineering, software and AI increasingly important.
Italdesign will keep its name, values and multidisciplinary approach. It’ll also gain access to UST’s global operations, tech expertise and customer base.

Based in Moncalieri, Turin, Italdesign has more than 1,300 employees across 10 locations.
Its work spans vehicle design, engineering, electronics, new mobility and limited-run production.
It has also completed more than 1,000 industrial design and transportation projects, with its work now extending into aerospace and robotics.
For UST, the partnership adds decades of automotive know-how to its AI and software capabilities.
The goal? Help automakers get from concept to production faster, as the industry moves towards increasingly connected, AI-enabled and software-defined cars.
