Like many automakers nowadays, Kia is also investing in green technologies that help drivers save fuel.

The Kia cee'd will now be available with the ISG (Intelligent Stop and Go). The system shuts off the engine whenever the vehicle is rolling along at less than 4km/h. For it to work, the driver must depress the clutch and shift into neutral.

Kia claims that in an urban setting with constant stop and go driving, the ISG system will be able to reduce fuel consumption by around 15 percent.

When the car is at a complete halt, the ISG system will immediately re-start the car's engine the moment the driver depresses the clutch.

ISG-equipped cee'ds will further benefit from standard equipment such as tyres with lower rolling resistance, and a lighter five speed manual transmission.

Initially, the ISG system will only be fitted to the 1.4 and 1.6 liter models. Kia will only equip the 1.6 liter diesel cee'd with the ISG system later this year.
