Mercedes-Benz given top award by auto motor und sport

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is not to be beaten in the luxury class. For the second time in succession, the readers of the major German motoring magazine "auto motor und sport" have awarded the world’s bestselling luxury saloon first place and voted it the "Best car of the year 2008". In recent months other models by Mercedes-Benz have also won major awards, underlining the special status of these automobiles from Stuttgart.

This year the editors of "auto motor und sport" presented their readers with a choice of 320 cars in ten categories on which to cast their votes. More than 100,000 people took part in this traditional reader’s vote for the best car of the year, which the motoring magazine has made a regular event for more than 30 years.



As last year, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was able to maintain its lead over the competitors in the luxury segment, and is entitled to style itself "Car of the year 2008". In making this award, the knowledgeable readers of the magazine acknowledged the exceptional status of the S-Class.

Thanks to its unmatched, innovative technology, outstanding comfort and exemplary safety and quality, the Mercedes-Benz flagship model represents the benchmark in the entire field of passenger car development.

Outstanding long-distance comfort is in part due to the chassis with standard-fit AIRMATIC air suspension, as well as the dynamic multi-contour seat with massage function. The Active Body Control suspension system is another milestone in car engineering. This opens up new dimensions in handling dynamics for the luxury saloon, while providing its occupants with unrivalled comfort.

Also on board are first-class safety features such as Brake Assist PLUS with radar sensors, the preventive occupant protection system PRE-SAFE®, night view assist with infrared technology and the PRE-SAFE® Brake.
