Japanese Domestic Market Honda “Euro” Accord fans, unite!

Expect higher levels of equipment and much more powerful i-VTEC engines – namely a revised 2 and 2.4 litre engine throwing out a whopping 156 and 180bhp. The one enthusiasts will be hoping for will be a 3.5-litre 24-valve V6 with a heady 280bhp.

This engine also comes with new “Variable cylinder management”, or VCM. This means better fuel economy as the engine’s computer will fire or cut cylinders as needed, depending on user input and load.

Honda has given this new one a much longer, 280cm wheelbase, so much so that it’s rivals, the Nissan Cefiro, Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Epica might be on the loosing end where passenger leg space is concerned.

Honda claims to maintain the Accord’s driver friendly handling capabilities with the standard double-wishbone front and multi-linked rear suspension setup.

As expected, the new Accord will be put together in Thailand, but where recipients of the Asian market got the rather ugly looking older model instead of the lovely JDM Euro Accord the last time round, this very apparition will rest assuredly be available through USA, Japan, Southeast Asia and Oceania.
