Praised for its ground-breaking design and growing popularity, the Qashqai won the Award for Best Crossover. Chairman of the 2010 Fleet World Honours Judges Steve Moody said: “When almost every other manufacturer talks about having a ‘Qashqai rival’, it’s apparent that Nissan’s crossover has defined an entirely new market, selling in strong numbers to fleets and delivering the perfect combination of SUV looks and hatchback running costs.”

Driving away with the prize in the tough Pickup category, the Navara has also done the business for Nissan. Member of the 2010 Fleet World Honours judging panel and Van

Fleet World Editor, John Kendall, said: “Navara has succeeded in ousting the Mitsubishi L200 this year. Despite the L200’s more radical looks, the Navara takes the award this year thanks to the latest raft of improvements.

“The Navara becomes the most powerful production pickup on the market thanks to the launch of the 231PS V6 diesel variant in September, but in the meantime, the latest variant of the 2.5-litre common rail diesel hikes power to 190PS, while making significant reductions in fuel consumption and emissions. King and double-cab versions and a host of options help to make the Navara range one of the most comprehensive.”

These two awards reveal the strength of Nissan’s presence in the Fleet sector, which is now recovering after a period of economic uncertainty.

Nissan’s UK MD, Paul Willcox comments: “Yet more recognition from the experts on two of our hardest working models in the fleet sector. We’re delighted to receive these awards for both the Qashqai and Navara, which validate Nissan’s position as a top-class fleet provider in two very different new model sectors.”
