Opel Receives Auto Bild Magazine Design Award
The new Meriva is continuing the winning ways of Opel by receiving its first prize, the 2010 German AUTO BILD Design Award in the SUV/Van/All-wheel drive vehicle category.

The new Meriva carries forward Opel’s award-winning design language – sculptural artistry meets German precision – successfully introduced with the Insignia in 2008 and the Astra last year. In addition to expressive looks, Meriva offers innovative functions -- such as the FlexSpace rear seating system, the rear-hinged FlexDoors, and the adaptable FlexRail cabin storage system -- which make it the flexibility champion in the car industry.
The Opel Insignia has collected almost 40 awards, including the prestigious 2008 European Car of the Year and the 2009 AUTO BILD Design Award for the Sports Tourer. Meanwhile, the Astra five-door compact has already gathered more than 20 accolades since its launch last autumn.
The Meriva won the German AUTO BILD Design Award by overcoming the challenge of 16 competitors in its category after a survey involving 100,000 consumers.
“This design award shows once again that we have hit the spot with the public with our innovative, sporty and elegant design for the Meriva,” says Mark Adams, Vice President, Opel/Vauxhall Design. “The fact that customers themselves voted and declared the Meriva their favorite makes this award that much more special. We are very proud of the fact that the Meriva has been successful, and are confident that we will exceed customer expectations with our new small monocab.”
