A two-day delay in the COE might be related to Monday’s Budget Day announcements. Plenty of speculation has been placed on the revised taxation of emissions standards, especially targeted at Diesel engine cars; which have recently grown in popularity in the city state.

According to ST, rules for private-hire cars will also likely be affected. In particular, Uber and Grab have been blamed for the increase of COE prices in recent years.
