Raikkonen will fight on

Reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen has admitted that his chances of retaining his crown are almost zero after he failed to score points for the third race in succession.

The current world champion has not won a race since the Spanish Grand Prix in April, and is 21 points behind McLaren's championship leader, Lewis Hamilton. There are only four races remaining in the 2008 season.

“You don't have to be Einstein to understand that this is not the right way to fight for the title,” said Raikkonen. “It's not over yet, but now it will take a miracle, like one that makes lightning strike twice.”

In preparation for the Singapore Grand Prix, Raikkonen and the Ferrari team will be testing at Mugello this week.

Raikkonen is definitely looking forward to the upcoming Singapore GP. “The possibility to race at a new city circuit is really something great.”

He adds, “It will be a very interesting experience for all of us. The atmosphere will be very exciting and the hot and humid weather might work to our advantage.”
