SG: Lucky Star Defies Odds To Win Dream Prize of BMW 316i With Caltex

Vijakumar S/O Navasivayam, 42, thanked his lucky stars twice as he hit the jackpot in the Caltex Lucky Star Promotion. This promotion, which ran from 8 July to 8 September 2013, offered Caltex customers the exciting opportunity to receive StarCash prepaid fuel cards and a chance to win the grand prize of a BMW 316i worth $114,000 (quoted price before the Certificate of Entitlement premium). More than 1.3 million lucky draw coupons were issued during this two-month promotion. With every fuel-inclusive purchase of $30 nett, customers were given a lucky draw coupon and a set of four winning Lucky Numbers. If their slip had four Lucky Stars, or any permutation of their vehicle’s registration number, they could win $100 or $500 StarCash respectively, or $1,000 StarCash if their Lucky Numbers had matched up exactly to that of their car.

Vijakumar had first won $100 StarCash from the Caltex Beach Road station, and remarkably, the same Lucky Star promotion coupon eventually won him the car. “This is the happiest moment in my life and I am still in shock that I have won the grand prize. A grand prize presentation was held at Caltex Jurong West earlier this week, where Jeremy Oh, General Manager for Products – Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia, Chevron Singapore Pte. Ltd. handed over the keys of the sleek BMW 316i to its new owner.

Vijakumar, who currently works as a sub-contractor with a transportation service provider thanked his company for encouraging him to participate in this promotion and applying for a Caltex StarCard on his behalf. While it would have been easy to swop his lorry for the car, he plans to sell it to invest in his children’s future. The proud father of four children, aged six to 14, lives with his wife in Cantonment Road. They will use the money to support their children’s academic aspirations in local education institutions.
