SG: New digital speed cameras installed
The red light cameras were the first traffic cameras to be replaced with more modern, digital ones. Now, it seems as though the LTA will be replacing the analogue speed cameras with modern units as well. The first batch of 20 will be installed on expressways and main arterial roads. These new cameras are sharper, more accurate and require less maintenance than their older film counterparts. It also enables the wireless transmission of images, which would speed up the time it took to process tickets. Installation started last month, and is expected to be completed by the middle of next year.
