SG: Smoother traffic flow after CCTV install

30 locations were identified as illegal parking hotspots last year. To curb the issue, the LTA decided to install CCTVs as a deterrent to illegal parkers. The installation seems to have done the trick, for not only has traffic flow been improved, there are fewer cases of obstruction on the roads at these locations since they first started operation.   Some locations that have seen improvements include Beach Road, Bishan, Pasir Panjang Road and River Valley Road, roads which many public bus services pile on. Since results have been positive, more will be installed. With effect from the 15th of April, 40 more locations will receive CCTV cameras, with plans for up to 60 more on top of that, which will be completed in 2017. CCTV monitoring zones will be demarcated by painted lamp posts or signposts. “No Waiting” signs at passenger pick-up points with CCTV cameras have also been installed.
