SG: Training targeted at commercial drivers to be launched in 2016

As the number of fatal accidents involving heavy vehicles has steadily gone up over the years, The Automobile Association of Singapore (AAS) will be launching a training institute to better educate these drivers in a bid to reduce the number of fatalities as a result of the errant operation of such vehicles. The courses, which will touch on the how to properly control their vehicles, will also help educate the drivers about how to analyse a risky situation and hopefully avoid contact. The AAS’ courses will be based off those current curriculm used in the International Road Transport Union (IRU), which currently offers certifications to commercial drivers in the EU. Three courses will be offered initially - crash prevention, safe loading and cargo securing, with elements of eco-driving thrown in. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
