SG: Volkswagen is the official car partner of the WCS, SIWW and CESS
Volkswagen has been appointed the official car partner for three major upcoming events: the World Cities Summit(WCS), Singapore International Water Week(SIWW), and CleanEnviro Summit Singapore (CESS). The events are being held in conjunction with one another at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands. The WCS and CESS will be from 1-4 June 201, while the SIWW runs from 1-5 June 2014. VIPs and delegates from 41 countries will be chauffeured around Singapore in a total of 54 Volkswagen cars: 27 units of the Passat 1.8 TSI and 27 units of the Sharan 2.0 TSI.

These cars, which were pre-sold to customers earlier this month, were handed off to the event drivers this week at Volkswagen Group Singapore's Vehicle Preparation Centre in Tuas. Both models have extremely low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The Passat, for instance, emits just 162 grams of CO2 per kilometer travelled, while the Sharan consumes only 8.4 liters of petrol per 100 km – an outstanding achievement for a full-sized 7-seater MPV.
Globally, the Volkswagen Group has great commitment to setting ecological standards, as shown by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. This important sustainability ranking listed Volkswagen in first place in 2013. The company aims to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as CO2 emissions, by 25% by 2018.
Steffen Schwarz, the Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Singapore, said: “Volkswagen cars with TSI engine technology and the DSG dual-clutch gearbox set the industry standards for high performance and low fuel consumption. This makes them a perfect match for the WCS, SIWW and CESS events. The 54 event cars will not only provide safe and comfortable transportation for the event delegates, they will also continue to make a positive impact on Singapore's roads for many years to come."
