SG: Woman who died in bus accident identified
The victim who was run over by a double decker bus plying rout 78 has been identified. The 42 year old woman, Mdm Zhang Huirui, was the wife of an important National University of Singapore (NUS) Associate Professor, Gong Jiangbin. Zhang was killed on the spot. According to an eye witness, the victim's legs got tangled up under the bus first, before her body was dragged for 5 metres. A trail of blood was left along the road. The 47-year old Singaporean bus driver was detained by the police. He only spoke with his wife who arrived at the scene at a later time. The driver has since been suspended until investigations are completed.
Mr Gong was extremely upset and was inconsolable. Upon reaching the site, he collapsed in tears. To ensure his safety, paramedics at the scene of the crash had to escoty his from the scene of the accident. Gong teaches at the NUS Faculty of Science, receiving several teaching accolades.
