In conjunction with the upcoming Formula One Singapore Grand Prix in September, Shell and Cold Storage are turning up the night race fever with their first jointly-organised Supermarket Night Race.

Participants stand to win a total of $1,000 worth of Shell and Cold Storage vouchers, and the items they collect in the ‘race’ will be donated to Care Community Services Society (CCSS). This is Shell and Cold Storage’s way of sharing the excitement of the world’s first Formula One night race, but not forgetting the under-privileged in society.

Six selected teams of two will battle it out in the supermarket aisles at Cold Storage Centrepoint on 14 August 2008 at 9.30pm in a test of strategy, speed and strength to mirror a Formula One race, complete with pit stops.

The team that collects items with a total cost equal or closest to $289 (symbolic of the Singapore Grand Prix race date) within two minutes will win the grand $1,000 prize. The other participating teams will each walk away with a consolation prize of $200 worth of Shell and Cold Storage vouchers.

To qualify for participation in this supermarket night race, simply spend $50 at any Cold Storage outlet from 1 – 6 August 2008 and sign up for a chance to participate. Entry forms are available in-store. Selected racers will be contacted by 8 August 2008.
