Part of Ferrari’s 60th Anniversary celebrations, the group of 25 cars, included rarely seen models like the F40, F50, Enzo, 512TR Spider, Daytona and the Dino. They then took to the highways to The Fullerton Hotel, but with police escorts, of course.

Singapore is the first stop in Asia of the Ferrari 60 Relay, after which convoy will head up to Malaysia to hand over a specially designed baton. The baton, topped with a dazzling platinum and diamond Prancing Horse, is not the only item Singapore is handing over. Managing Director of Hong Seh Motors Pte Ltd, Mr Alfred Tan, also presented a gold-plated statue of a Merlion to Italian ambassador, His Excellency Falco de Luca Gabrielli.

The Merlion, chosen because of its cultural and traditional representation of Singapore, will be sent to the Farnesina Palace in Rome for an exhibition. At the end of this exhibit, all the gift donations will be auctioned off, and proceeds will be given to charity.

Meanwhile, aspiring Ferrari-owners need not worry, as Hong Seh is keen on getting Ferrari to allocate them even more Prancing Horses, with figures circling 60.

For the rest of us, however, fret not as we can all still have a little bit of race technology in our cars.

Shell has been fervently refining and adjusting fuel technology, first invented for Ferrari’s Formula 1 cars, to suit our road cars. Their Friction Modification Technology (FMT), for example, was developed for F1 during its off-peak periods. While some might complain that it is too expensive, Shell explains that it’s all up to the customers to choose between power and economy.
