The New Suzuki Swift Sport now in Singapore

So much has been the successful efforts by Suzuki to revitalize itself with the Swift. And Suzuki is further entrenching its popular standing with the launch of their new Swift Sport. On first look, it may hold a striking resemblance to its predecessors but this new car is no ordinary facelift.

With the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class, the new Swift Sport is proof of yet another breakthrough achievement by Suzuki. Suzuki has brought the handling and other attributes of driving performance to greater heights with the new Swift Sport, surpassing its predecessor in terms of handling, power and fuel efficiency.

The styling concept for the new Swift Sport is ‘dynamic and energetic’. It inherits a look of a short, wide, compact body that appears to be bursting with energy. It reflects an evolution that conveys a powerful emotional appeal and sports refinement that meets the needs of all hatchback lovers.

Immaculately crafted design makes the new Swift Sport shine. Distinctive fins on the big fog lamp bezels, for instance, display the car’s aggressive edginess while the sharp styling of the high-intensity discharge headlamps is portrayed through the metallic-grey coating. A big front grille subtly amplifies the engine’s powerful performance.

Red-stitched accents on the leather-wrapped steering wheel and stainless steel pedals give the new Swift Sport a combination of sportiness and refinement. Control over the CVT’s 7-gear manual mode is accessible at any point of the drive at the command of the driver’s finger tips via the shift paddles.

The new 1.6 litre petrol engine is more powerful, at 134bhp, and efficient with a newly adopted variable intake-valve system. Drivers are rewarded with greater torque and fuel efficiency across the revving range. The new Swift Sport’s power-to-weight ratio is a class-leading, remarkable 0.125bhp/kg, surpassing even the specification of some turbocharged engines.

A specially designed six-speed manual transmission allows for better acceleration and fuel economy due to a higher top-gear ratio.

The CVT with a low- and high-range auxiliary gearbox gives a wide range of gear ratios, so it boosts both acceleration and fuel economy. For sporty driving, the shift paddles and seven-gear manual mode work seamlessly to deliver the punch you seek.

The new Swift Sport boasts improved fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions, making it more environmentally-friendly. Compared to the previous Swift Sport, the newer model delivers a 15.0% (MT) and 18.6%(CVT) reduction in CO2 while a 16.7%(MT) and 23.3%(CVT) improvement in fuel efficiency.

The new Swift Sport's no-frills launch at Suzuki's Pandan Crescent showroom was complimented by fringe activities such as customized Suzuki caricatures and photo shoots that thrilled Suzuki fans and left non-converts pleasantly amused.
