TT competitor from Peugeot
Peugeot gears for a direct attack on Audi's TT with their heart pumping 308 RC Z.

The 308 RC Z is set to go on sale in 2009 and the car is estimated to cost around 20 per cent less than its German counterpart.
Based loosely on the chassis of the new 308 hatchback, the two-plus-two coupé would be front-wheel drive with minimal changes to the styling; As first seen from the concept car which debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Under the bonnet, the 308 RC Z may be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine co-developed by Peugeot and BMW.
Pushing out 218bhp, it produces 43bhp more power than in the 207 GTi, along with 280Nm of torque. This rockets the RC Z from 0-62mph in seven seconds and on to a terminal speed of 146mph. The unit is mated to a new six-speed transmission, and returns 42.2mpg.
