Vans and mini-buses are now cheaper to own

With the implementation of the Euro IV emission standards, the unladen weight of commercial vehicles have increased while the size of the vehicle remains relatively the same.

Because of this, the HDB and URA issued a joint statement announcing that the unladen weight of commercial vehicles eligible for motorcar season parking will be increased from 1,500 kg to 1,800 kg.

This means that for existing owners who qualify, they will now pay season parking charges of S$65 for surface car parks and S$90 for multi-storey car parks in residential estates instead of paying between S$120 and S$185 per month for heavy vehicles.
