Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI Quattro Review: Fast (on all) four

The Audi Q5 is best known for its incredible handling that sets it apart from most other SUVs. We take their latest re-engined 2.0 TFSI for an impression.

What we like:
pros
Excellent dynamic qualities. Plush interior and handsome looks.
What we dislike:
cons
Tiptronic slow to shift in manual mode.

Audi Drive Select is now standard on all models and the Q5 is no different. In ‘Comfort’ mode, the steering is kept feather light which allows minimum effort for inputs. Suitable for long distance drives but not recommended in city traffic. On the other extreme end is ‘Dynamic’ which firms up both the steering and suspension and allows for sportier driving. ‘Auto’ mode finds itself somewhere between the two extremes.

Conclusion

Dynamic qualities it seems need not be sacrificed in the name of practicality and that’s what the Q5 stands for. It remains one of the most sure footed SUVs available on the market today and gives the much vaunted BMW X3 a run for its money.

The much tested 2.0 TFSI returns a reasonable 12.6km/L though it doesn’t receive any rebates from the CEVS scheme as it falls into the neutral category.

That aside, if you are starting a family but still possess the fire for some spirited driving, the Q5 is our top choice.
