Volvo attempts to save some whales and penguins with a PHEV variant of the S60 Compact Executive Sedan
Treading Lightly
The Korean manufacturer has been on a full-on product offensive of late, especially with their hybrid and EVs. So it is only natural that the Kona also gets a new drivetrain.
Urban Kicks
With the gradual shift to electrification, Nissan’s approach might seem a little strange to some. The Kicks is the second car offered here by the Japanese automotive which features their E-Power Serial Hybrid drivetrain; the first being the Serena MPV.
Nissan, we would like to think, got their product planning right, with pairing an SUV with their drive technology, since SUVs have become all the rave; and with its starting price of this one at around $107k, the average car buyer would find this quite attainable.

The Swede Electric Touch
The XC60 is an accomplished car, with a conservative yet slick exterior design and a tasteful high-quality interior. Is it any better with a range-topping plug-in hybrid variant?
Isnt It Ioniq?
It is hard to imagine that just twenty years ago, a hybrid car plying our roads would turn heads. There were lesser offerings back then, and I must admit that I did see them as little more than just a conversation piece, for those who had a little more in their bank to burn.

Crisp lines and a silhouette which bears an uncanny resemblance to the LS flagship car. The new ES definitely looks striking from most angles.
Battery This Time Not Included
Hyundai’s compact hybrid car has gone through a very minor facelift, but a very important one.
In order to beat the new Vehicle Emissions Scheme (VES), introduced this year, the Korean manufacturer found ways to drop the weight of the car, and more importantly, have the emissions of their popular Ioniq reduced enough to retain an A2 banding.
The Extra Mile
BMW had fielded their 2 Series Active Tourer as one of the cars to be made available within their iPerformance range. The 225Xe provides drive to the front wheels with all the assurance of a petrol-engined car, and added range, delivered from electric motors driving the rear wheels. Wait, that sounds like an i8 drivetrain in reverse.
The Electrifying Executive
The introduction of the new iPerformance range of BMW cars is a first step for the Bavarian manufacturer for things much bigger. The 530e takes all the reliabilities of internal combustion engined motoring, and combines this with their take on the future, plug-in hybrid technology.
We will not deny that all this would mean that the infrastructure in a city has to be well implemented, and at least one base charging station (usually your home) must be in-place, before things can take flight.
Doppelganger
Hyundai builds a Prius… ok maybe not, but you could mistake the new IONIQ for one if it zipped past you.
The aerodynamic body shell does carry some resemblance to its Japanese rival. But overall, the Korean car maker has delivered very well on exterior styling.
Maybe The New Black for Hybrids
Toyota has one, Hyundai too built one, Kia Motors then said… We have one as well.
Kia said “try it!!” And we said “OK!”
The new Kia Niro represents Kia’s first foray into the fuel sipping hybrid car market. Would Kia know how to enter a market which has already gotten some traction over the last few years? We try the new Niro hybrid to find out.
THE Hybrid Theory
The Toyota Prius carries on Toyota’s efforts to bring sustainable energies into everyday motoring. In its fourth generation, the Prius has attained cult status, from being the butt of jokes involving Vegans, to even family dog, Brian Griffin of the adult themed cartoon, Family Guy owning one.
